Obama announces troop withdrawals in 2011, Taliban leader announces victory is imminent. How‘s that for sustenance?
(RTTNews) – Taliban leader Mullah Omar claimed Wednesday that his group is close to winning the ongoing war with Afghan security forces and the foreign coalition troops in Afghanistan, and described the NATO-led mission as a “complete failure.”
“The victory of our Islamic nation over the invading infidels is now imminent and the driving force behind this is the belief in the help of Allah and unity among ourselves,” Omar said in a statement carried by several jihadist websites.
“In the time to come, we will try to establish an Islamic, independent, perfect and strong system,” he said, adding that “those military experts who have framed strategies of the invasion of Afghanistan or are now engaged in hammering out new strategies, admit themselves that all their strategies are nothing but a complete failure.”
“What we want to convey to you through this message is that (you) withdraw your soldiers from our country unconditionally and as soon as possible. This is in your interest and in the interest of your people and the best option for regional stability,” the Taliban leader added.
Seriously, it doesn’t take a genius to make a statement like that AFTER Obama already announced he’s giving up, but it sure rubs salt on the wound. via Mullah Omar: Taliban Victory In Afghanistan Imminent.
Gen. James Conway told reporters on Tuesday. “In some ways, we think right now it’s probably giving our enemy sustenance….In fact, we’ve intercepted communications that say, ‘Hey, you know, we only have to hold out for so long.’
