Iran Arrests Two German Journalists Who Tried To Enter Iran On Tourist Visas

From Jihad Watch:

Iran arrests two foreigners for not properly misunderstanding Islam

They dared to investigate the case of a woman facing death by stoning. Islamic spokesmen in the West constantly tell is that it is a misconception that Islam calls for stoning of adulterers, and yet those who practice it in the Islamic world are the ones who proclaim that they are the truest, purest, most obedient adherents of Islam. Yet the prevailing orthodoxy dictates that we assume that they misunderstand Islam, and so these two foreigners have apparently been arrested for not misunderstanding Islam properly.

Still, the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran appear serenely convinced that stoning is right, proper, justifiable, called for in Islam under certain circumstances. Yet if one notes that in the West, one is labeled "Islamophobic." Are the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran likewise "Islamophobic"?

"Iran says it arrests 2 foreigners," from AP, October 11 (thanks to Maxwell):

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's official news agency is reporting that authorities arrested two foreigners suspected of posing as journalists to investigate the case of a woman who could face death by stoning on an adultery conviction.

The IRNA news agency quoted judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi as saying they were arrested while interviewing the son of the woman, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, whose case has generated widespread international outrage....
