Plea To Join Petition To Chinese Leadership To Free Liu Xiaobo, Nobel Peace Prize Winner

from the Care2Petition site:

Tell China to Free

Liu Xiaobo

Hi Christopher W.,

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize was announced last week: Liu Xiaobo of China, a democracy and human rights advocate.

Unfortunately, he can not accept his prize from his prison cell. Liu Xiaobo has been persecuted and imprisoned for speaking out.

Tell China to free Liu Xiaobo. »

A Chinese citizen from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, has started a petition asking Chinese authories to free Liu Xiaobo.

Below is a message from the petition author:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you imagine a man being sentenced to 11 years of prison just because he wrote an article calling for the protection of human rights and democracy?

That man is Liu Xiaobo, the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate for 2010. He has been fighting for a more open, free and democratic China for more 20 years, but now he is imprisoned illegally and illegitimately.

Please sign the petition to urge the Chinese government to release Liu Xiaobo, the beacon of freedom and democracy in China. Your help will be a great encouragement to the Chinese people fighting for freedom and democracy.

Thanks a lot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Nobel Peace Prize is a great acknowledgment of the important work that Liu Xiaobo has done for his people.

The world is watching. Tell China that it's time to release this peaceful man from jail. »

Thank you for making a difference.

Sincerely,

Laura
