“Day of Rage” Protests Planned Across Egypt; VP Joe Biden Says Egyptian President Mubarak is “Not a Dictator”

Above is video of Vice-President Joe Biden trying to walk a diplomatic tightrope about Egyptian “President” Hosni Mubarak. He is facing growing protests in Egypt, with a massive protest expected to take place tomorrow – what is being called a “Day of Rage” across Egypt. His government has said it will not allow the massive protest, so the stage is set for a showdown.

Biden was asked tonight if it is “time for President Mubarak to go.” Biden would not go that far, but he did say Mubarak needs to “be more responsive to some of the needs of the people out there.”
In another interview, Biden reportedly said Mubarak is “not a dictator.” That may be technically true, but not in reality. Mubarak has held power in Egypt since the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981. Mubarak had been Vice-President when the assassination took place.
